Formal Assessments

Psychologists are instrumental in assessing and diagonosing a range of childhood disabilites and learning disorders. Tamara offers a range of assessments for children and adolescents including:

  • Educational assessment
  • Academic achievement testing
  • Adaptive behaviour assessment
  • ADD/ADHD (attention difficulties)
  • Autism and Aspergers assessment
  • Cognitive assessment (IQ testing)
  • Gifted and talented assessment
  • Reading comprehension
  • School readiness assessment

    • Assessments are not covered by medicare and are funded privately by the client (with the exclusion of some autism assessments - special conditions apply). Private Health Insurance subsidy may be possible on some assessments however this is dependant on your provider.


    People often consider assessment for their child because they have questions such as:

  • Is my child gifted?
  • Does my child have a learning problem or disability (like dyslexia)?
  • Is my child eliglible to apply for state or federal funding for inegration support at their school?
  • Is my child is eligible for special exam provisions for their VCE or IB?
  • Is my child eligible for early school entry or kindergarten entrance?
  • Why is my child having trouble in class, are they bored?
  • What are my childs academic strengths and weaknesses?
  • What interventions would help my child learn more effectively?

    • Tamara's qualification in Special Education, can be utilised in assisting schools to devise targeted Individual Learning Plans for children with special needs. If your child is eligible for addtional support under the Disabilites and Impairments program she is also available to be involved in program support group meetings to ensure the appropriateness of ongoing interventions.
